Why don't my traded pokemon show up in my Diamond pokedex?

Ok so I got (for instance) a shiney Charizard and Ditto, traded from the internet. I believe they are codes but I have more traded pokemon like that, and none of them show up in my pokedex. I started my Diamond game over again cause I wanted all poketch applications and in my old game all of them filled my pokedex. In fact, these are the very same pokemon from my old game. What happened? Why can't I see them??
